Due to recent economic conditions, the 2009 reunion has been cancelled.

Hello Cousins,  If you were planning to attend the Sh—n Reunion on the cruise ship this year, you know by now that it has been cancelled. It was an unfortunate reflection of what has been happening in the economy for the past several months. By default, the current officers will continue to serve in their current roles for the coming year. 

Although we’re not meeting as a family this year, we will be thinking of you and we will stay in touch through the newsletter.  ~ Keith Shoun, President

 Excerpt from May 2009 newsletter ....

The 2009 Reunion Committee has regretfully announced the cancellation of the 2009 Sh—n Family Association Reunion which was planned for July 10-13 at Long Beach, CA. The reunion was to have taken place on a cruise from Long Beach to Ensenada, Mexico and return.  “The economy has had an effect on our cousins,” reports Linda Ivers, one of the reunion hosts. “About 50% of our cousins who had planned on sailing on the Carnival Paradise for the reunion cruise have had to cancel their reservations. “After discussion with President Keith Shoun, the decision was made to cancel the reunion for this year.”  The committee, which also includes Beth DuBoise and Sue Birch of California, contacted the rest of the cousins who had reservations for the cruise. Though most decided not to sail, several families are still planning to take the cruise in July.

“We regret that we will not be welcoming our cousins to California this summer,” Linda said. She noted that plans are already being made for the 2010 reunion, and the California cousins are looking forward to seeing everyone in 2010.
